Ronald McDonald House of Tampa Bay provides a "home-away-from-home" for families with children receiving medical treatment in bay area hospitals.
Ronald McDonald House of Tampa Bay is comprised of four Houses, three in St. Petersburg and one in Tampa, offering a total of 80 bedrooms with private baths. We are owned and operated by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay (RMHCTB), a non-profit Florida corporation whose Board of Trustees consist of parents, leaders, McDonald’s Owner-Operators, McDonald’s Corporation staff, medical professionals and other interested individuals in the community.
Many families travel far from home to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children. The treatment may last a day, a month, or even longer. It's a long time to be away from home, or to divide a family. In 2011 we cared for 1,775 families who came from Florida, 31 states and 16 countries to stay an average of 7.7 days while their child received treatment in one of our fine bay area hospitals.
The Ronald McDonald House offers families a way to stay together, in proximity to the treatment hospital, and be comfortable and cared for during their stay.
Families are stronger when they are together, which helps in the healing process. By staying at a Ronald McDonald House, parents also can better communicate with their child’s medical team and keep up with complicated treatment plans when needed.
When your child is sick, you want the best care possible - even if it is hundreds or thousands of miles away. The Ronald McDonald House allows families to access specialized medical treatment by providing a place to stay at little or sometimes no cost.
At every House, families can enjoy:
The generosity of volunteers and donors make it all possible. Although families are asked to donate towards their stay, no payment is mandatory, and no one is every turned away due to inability to contribute .
